Food:

"Arapaho Preserves Berries used to make jelly. Winter Use Food Berries dried for winter use. Blackfoot Forage Berries eaten by buffalo. Cheyenne Pie & Pudding Berries boiled, flour and sugar added, and eaten as a pudding. Dakota Dried Food Fruit dried for winter use. Fruit Fruit eaten fresh in season. ---" (Moerman 528)

Medicine:

"Blackfoot Gastrointestinal Aid Berries eaten for stomach troubles. Laxative Berries eaten as a mild laxative. Cheyenne Unspecified Dried, smashed berries used as an ingredient in medicinal mixtures. Dakota Ceremonial Medicine Fruit used occasionally in ceremonial feasts at female puberty rites. Navajo Febrifuge Berries taken for fevers." (Moerman 528)
