Spring 2022

March

First time out and about this spring on the 2nd. We went to Madrid to eat at the Hollar. I had cheese grits and fried okra with an IPA -mmm mmm good! Not many people there in the middle of the week. No more mask state requirements, but we stlll wear them when in an indoor space although we are fully vaccinated and boosted.Baked sourdough bread in neighbor Paul's horno across the street.

View of the Russian River from Villa Grande

Rosie the Riveter National Park

Susan and I went to Berkeley, CA to be with Susan's sister Marcy in late March until April, 7. Made several trips in and out of Berkeley- their house in Villa Grande on the Russian River, to see the Osprey nest in the shipyard, Rosie the Riveter National Park, to the point where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean, China Camp, Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, the Berkeley Art Museum and saw Thousand Oaks School in Berkeley where Kamala Harris went to school.

Each morning we walked from our AirBnB in Kensington to her sister's house in Berkeley. It was all downhill passing houses with many blooming plants along the way. They have spring there much earlier than here in Eldorado!

Alcatrez Prison in San Francisco Bay from the ferry

Susan and I went back to Berkeley, CA to be with Susan's sister Marcy for two weeks. We stayed in downtown Berkeley at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza before moving to our favorite AirBnB in Kensington. One day we took BART to San Francisco. We went to the Ferry Building to the farmer's market then took the ferry over to Saulsalito to go into the little shops there.
