White Rock Canyon Overlook is in the town of White Rock an unincorporated community in Los Alamos County. The town is close to Los Alamos and many of its residents who work at the Los Alamos National Laboratory live in White Rock.
To get to the overlook turn left (coming from Pojoaque) at the stop light on NMHwy-4, go a couple of blocks (you will see a sign) and turn left, then drive to the dead end after going through the park.
There is a short path to the overlook. From there you are far above the Rio Grande River and can see up and down the river for miles. To the left the Black Mesa of the San Ildefonso Pueblo stands out beside the river and straight across are the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Quite a spectacular sight!
