Colorado Springs, Colorado

The Colorado Springs, Colorado area has a lot to offer anyone who is looking for scenery and history. The scenery of Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods is breathtaking!

Pikes Peak, which is 14,110 feet at its summit, was named after its American discoverer, Lt. Zebulon Pike. The view from the peak was immortalized in 1893 when Katharine Lee Bates penned the lyrics to "America the Beautiful" after visiting the summit. Today it can be reached by walking trail, cog railroad or even by an eleven mile drive. I used the cog train to reach the summit.
