When I began this project "The Matagorda Maddens in the Texas Coastal Bend" in November, 2013 I had no idea where it would take me. I knew very little about my relatives who live and who lived there, where they were from and what brought them to that part of Texas. Since then I have been able to put much of the story together with the help of many people that I have met, some relatives and some with a keen interest in the area. This is to acknowledge those who have contributed so much to this project.
(All of the cousins' great-great grand father and mother are Dr. James Frederick Madden and Eveline Bludworth Madden who were the first Maddens to come to Texas. I trace my lineage through William "Willie" Hanna Madden one of their children.
