Multicultural Understanding- Understanding Others from Cultures Different from Your Own

In 1992 I began offering presentations to Texas school districts to help the faculties better understand people from different cultures other than their own. At that time there was an influx of of people from other countries whose customs and language were different from the majority existing community. There were also problems understanding about others who lived in the community who were differrent from the majority.

Working in the Alief ISD outside of Houston gave me an insight to the many different groups of people who live together in different areas of our nation. There was a time that students in the Alief schools were reported to be one quarter each of Anglo, Black, Asian and Hispanic.

For the next couple of years after 1992 I would not only offer these presentations in Alief ISD, but would travel throughout the state speaking to faculty groups and devising models for the different areas of school districts. Here I have updated and included some of the materials from those workshops.
