Summer 2021
Everybody's happy about the high rate of Covid-19 vaccinations in New Mexico!
September
September brought higher temperatures and no rain. We did however, get more bounty from our veggie gardens. I am picking little tomatoes and peppers every morning. The leafy veggies are still producing and the eggplants are just beginning to produce.
August
We were hoping that this month would be better in terms of the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead a new variant, Delta, of the virus showed up around the world. Although the variant mainly attacks the non-vaccinated there are some breakthrough cases of those who have been vaccinated. A new state mandate from now through the month of September is for every one to wear a mask indoors. So we are being more careful again. On Thursday the 26th we drove to Las Vegas, NM. We ate outside at the Skillet and then went to the Wildlife Refuge to see the birds and the sunflowers. Saw two hawks, an eagle and lots of doves. It was a nice outing!
July
Susan, Barb Goede and I went to eat lunch at the Abiquiu Inn on Sunday, 31st. Afterwards we drove to the picnic spot above the Abiquiu Dam then drove into the town of Abiquiu where we saw our wood carver friend Leopoldo Garcia.

We went to the Spanish Market on the plaza on the 25th. There were not as many people there as in the past, but we enjoyed looking at the art items that were there.
After waiting so long for rain on the 20th we got 2 inches in 45 min. with 50mph winds. Never had this much rain at one time!
Susan and I drove up to Los Alamos on the 19th to walk around the lake and to eat at the Blue Willow Bistro. Beautiful day and a great lunch!
On the 6th my daughter Suzie and her son Anderson came to visit after trecking 100 miles at Philmont Boy Scout Camp outside of Cimarron, NM. They stayed for a couple of days relaxing before returning to their home in Houston.
We took a ride to Madrid and ate fried okra at the Hollar where this sign was posted in the bathroom.
