Summer 2022
August
I was a docent at the NM History Museum for a couple of Road Scholar groups and in the SF Botanical Garden on most Fridays. I helped out at the Feast Day at Pecos Pueblo on the 7th. which was the first time helping there since 2020. I do still wear a mask when I am indoors or around large groups of people. The Omicron varient of Covid seems to be easy to catch, but not as virulent.
Susan and I spent a week in Creede, CO. We stayed at Antlers on the Rio and took several drives out of town (Bachelor Loop, the waterfalls & Lake City). The weather was nice and cool and there was a little rain most every day. We also saw three plays at the Creede Repetory Theater (Patsy Cline, Sherwood & Steel Magnolias). This was the first time we had returned since the Covid pandemic began in 2020. Everyone in the theater had to wear masks at all times with objections from some of those from Texas, but all complied.
July
July brought some huge thunder showers throughout the state. We got several of them here as well. Susan spent a couple more weeks in Berkeley, but this time I didn't go. I worked around the house and garden and did my first docent assignment at the NM History Museum in 2 and 1/2 years! I plan to do more in the future.
June
We began the month in Berkeley, California to be with Susan's sister Marcy who is experiencing mental health problems. There has been no appreciable rain in Eldorado since the beginning of the year and the winds have been overwhelming! The largest forest fire in the history of New Mexico has been burning for several weeks in the Las Vegas/Mora area and others around the state are also being fought. We are all looking forward to having a good monsoon season this summer!
The first monsoon rains came on the 16th. It rained almost every day thereafter. On the 23rd Susan and I went to Taos for a mini vacation. On the way we stopped in Penasco and went into Sugar Nymphs for a treat.
We stayed at an inn on Kit Carson St. We went to a dance on the Plaza.
On Friday we spent the day at the Taos Ski Valley stopping to go into the shops at Arroyo Seco on the way back to Taos. It was a good trip!
